Our focus needs to be on how we are building communities to connect the creators and the audience more directly and more organically. Zaps are so important to this and show just how powerful the shift could be when we put these technologies of #Nostr, the #Pear Stack, #Lightning and #Bitcoin and all of this together in *just* the right recipe...

What are your thoughts on this?

as long as there are less spammers and bots, there will be better communal access between audiences and creators. case in point, I was just listening to an excellent episode of bitcoin audible (fiat waste) and here I am saying thank you directly to the guy who made it for how fucking good it was. I love nostr. I keep reiterating how I like it small

as it is right now, everyone feels closer together here

…or maybe not 🤣

Podcasting 2.0 another crucial piece of the puzzle

The new tech makes new ways of trusting each other possible (and actually old ways that the state and big tech, by accident or design, have strongly discouraged, or even eliminated). I think new protocols, even those seemingly in competition with each other, need to become ubiquitous enough to change behaviour en masse. That's where we win. The protocols themselves are simultaneously so important, yet not important at all. The behaviour change is what I look forward to - which is dependant on the underlying tech being there, but also doesn't respect it at all.

Maybe it's just android but I tried to move my wife and I communication to keet. The video call was great but sending Videos and photos was very unreliable. After the 2nd issue she asked me if we could switch back to Facebook messenger

Due to it being entirely P2P the media and files tend to have trouble becuase the other party has to be online at the exact same time. they are working on a "blind forwarding cache" which is what they do for messages, that allows any of your other peers to auto download a certain amount of media in an encrypted blob, to forward to the people in the rooms with you later on, if no one is online at the same time.

Because of this it will all work better if you have more rooms and more peers, but to start with, its really helpful to have a device that runs Keet all the time to kind of act like a sync server for you and anyone you have rooms with. that's what i do with my Linux machine

media and files will improve a lot and they have a lot of tools going toward that problem. Plus I've got something that I think we will be able to integrate that should be really awesome in that regard, so with that i say just give it time, unfortunately. Its the nature of no servers and there's still some kinks to work out.

Hence "beta"

If I'm understanding you correctly, the problem is solved if I add an always on machine to the room?

Do you know if they have any plans to work with startOS?

it has linux packages so it should, they will be releasing a cli app to seed data for your rooms, the ux for small rooms isnt great yet because the mobile app stops seeding in the background and no app to install yet on raspberrypi or routers to seed, conversely large rooms work great

android keet stops sending files when its in the background, something they will fix

Do we have book punishing decentralized option?

it's a process/going thru the wash/should come out cleaner/lfg
