I am always amazed that parents have to teach their kids to drive in the US.

They don’t have to. There’s driver’s education you can go to.
I have been to them. It sucks.
One I went to was excellent. Got my permit at 14. Had to have an adult in the car though.
We used to have that in our school district. I took it as a kid. You also got a discount on your insurance if you did! But we don't have it any longer. I wish we did. It's a valuable course.
Who's going to teach my kids if I don't?
Driving schools.. In brazil, every teen is required to go through 24 hours of training with a professional teacher in driving on an adapted car that allows the teacher to take control at any moment.
Most places still offer drivers Ed. It generally provides for lower insurance rates. In some places it also allows earlier driving privileges for those that take it
Here in the Philippines we have an increasing number of "Sweet Potato" (Kamote) drivers. (Bad drivers). And it's because many new drivers (Gen Zs) were taught by their uncles, big brothers, etc. Quite recently they discovered that the technical/legal driving schools have been passing their students deliberately in driving exams.

But you see how else would i inherit my fathers road rage or my moms lead foot
