You're the only one I know who could pull that off. Make it so? Maybe for the 20th? (Yeah, I know that's a lot of work.)

Yeah it’s actually something that should be done! And for the 20th year anniversary this would be very very very cool!
I’ve never planned anything big like this, only a birthday party with max 30 people 😂
Later I’ll ask Nostr what they think about this idea and see if anyone wants to do it with me.
Once you get over a dozen people, it's not much harder to plan for up to a few thousand as long as the place abd budget allow for it. I have some experience with conventions that run from 30-45k people, and that's a lot more work.
Basically, you care a LOT if you know everyone. You CAN'T care quite as much if you don't know everyone, and then if you can't handle the planning on your own, delegation to trusted people lowers the burden further.
I would 100% hire an event planner.
But you still have to care because there is catering involved, tickets, dats, checking that there are enough hotels around + planning transportation for everyone, organizing security, bla bla - not it’s actually a lot, or at least what I envision 😅 if we planned it and it was somewhat large, would you come? I’ll stand in the corner and talk with you 🥰 then when I go mingle for a bit you can chill in a private room that we have set aside just for you so that you don’t feel overwhelmed 😜 A private room might be tricky based on the venue (but I was thinking to rent a beautiful estate) however I think with such an interesting group of people you won’t want to be alone, you WILL WANT TO TALK TO EVERYONE!!! That’s how I feel when I meet try Bitcoiners.
Well, I would crowdsource volunteers to handle specific tasks. That's how the convention I work with does it, abd it's rather effective. (granted, yes also a registered educational non-profit, so there's a lot of legal and accounting stuff to worry about, but not needing that makes it much simpler since you'd just be throwing a big party.)
Oh, I certainly didn't mean to imply that you don't care, but you can leave details to delegates that you trust. For example, I could easily handle coordinating documentation, but you would absolutely NOT want me in charge of decorating decisions. Finding people who can work to their strengths is a sign of a good leader.
Hiring an event planner sure is the easy button... LOL!
Honestly, it would depend on the cost. 5 years is pretty much on my timeline for acquiring my 5+ wooded acres. I might be very land-broke (no house yet to be house-broke! LOL), and therefore not able to spend the coin to attend. Would I like to? Yes.
You would be much too busy to spend your time with a wallflower like myself, but as long as there was a comfy couch or something like a comfy overstuffed arm chair to lounge on, I'd be perfectly amenable to chatting with whomever. I. Will. Not. Dance. (Seriously.)
I'm not *that* bad a gatherings. In fact, it's fun as long as I don't have to do it for many days in a row. I used to be in charge of departments at the convention that dealt directly with 100s of attendees daily for 3 days in a row. I do that well, but after, I would rather not talk to anyone for a week. LOL! So, you don't need to worry about me. I'd be more concerned with actively avoiding cameras.
A quiet room is still a good thing to have. There are several set up around the convention hall. They are pleasant if one needs a break from the press of a crowd, but, for my sake, not necessary, though, it embarrasses me to think that you'd take that into account when planning.
5 years seems like a long time, but, depending on scale, that's good, or, just enough time. Who knows what the world will like like then, but, it us good to hold hope for a better future while working towards it.
Sounds like you know how to plan it 👌
Omg I love your goal to buy land! I always say it’s better to HODL than spend. But let’s see 1 if this is something we actually plan and 2 if it happens I’m sure we will find a way to get you a ticket, it was your idea after all 😊
I could handle coordinating most of it, but not all the planning and certainly not the cohesive, artistic vision you'd want to tie everything together.
And also, 5 years is a lot of time to plan!
Yeah I’m not sure anyone plans something that far ahead 😅
How big do you envision a thing like this? If it's big, then it's best to start now while the hype of the 15th anniversary is still buzzing.
If we don’t do it until the 20th anniversary we have plenty of time to hype it up.
I don’t know how big it should be. I suppose it depends on who wants to come and how many sponsors we can get 🤷♀️
Would this be a Black Tie affair? Or would plebs be allowed in?
Plebs will ALWAYS be allowed.
I would make it a dress up IF YOU WANT, but I would not turn down a pleb who chose to #Hold vs spending precious sats on an outfit.
Yup. That's very true.
Sponsors. Oh. Right. That. Outreach and strategic partnerships would be a department, and not something I could do since I have 0 industry or insider pull. But I'm sure we could recruit those that do.
If you're talking about renting an estate for a good chunk of a week, that's not inexpensive, but, divided by X amount of attendees, that's not bad, plus you probably should have at least a couple of tiers. For example, if people wanted to pay extra to stay at the estate vs. attending from in the vicinity for privacy or cost reasons.
#BitcoinBall
My goodness, having it be a big event that starts on publishing day and ends on the 5th of November with a Guy Fawkes masquerade ball would be pretty effing sweet!
