A friend sent over some marketing statistics he was sent from a pretty large internal marking agency, in the order of a few 100m probably. So I think their stats are pretty reliable. After studying the material for a bit all I can think is:

Were just walking wallets.

Every action most people make is so predictable it can be targeted and optimized to get you to make a purchase. I'm not righteous enough to argue the morality, but the psychology is still fascinating to say the least.

The insurance companies know when we will die too. Eerie.

Yeah good point. I read up a bit on that a little while ago!

Wild.

Yeah, it's kind of trippy to think about.

This is why I make every possible effort to avoid ads.

I want that brain power to belong to me not the highest bidder. Not for sale.

Maybe they're exploiting the fact that governments and certain corporations want to constantly control the economy and average people always want to fit in society. A recipe for massive disaster.

Fortunately, people are becoming more stupid over time and the consequences of it can't be really predicted or controlled

Yeah possibly, while skilled people running actually successful business are often quite smart (in my experience anyway), their goal is quite simple. Give people what they want. If the stats show they're more likely to xyz, then give them xyz. I don't think much more action goes into it.
