I implemented it on a domain I own a few days ago. What they don't mention is you can do it with all your "usernames".

Once you get the json file, extension removed, you can just duplicate and rename it. I did it for 6 right off the bat, everyone works, but they all go to your 1 address, of course.

Much dig.

If you use cloudflare for DNS you can setup a Cloudflare worker with the well known file. I haven't tried with lightning address but it works with NIP-05 authentication.

I use Siteground which used to use Cloudflare but it has its own now. I couldn’t set up my own NIP-05 either

I'm using Hostinger, referred to by someone here on NOSTR. Customer support has been great, too.
