They pre trained the body structure, i’m waiting the real time using those glasses or another hardware. Currently it’s a real avatar which is pre trained on gestures. Like for example I trained my avatar on bearded face and you connect someone after shaving it. Would really have an impact experience. Same for haircuts etc
yep, but I am ok with pre-training. As long as I can use this avatar in every call, it should be fine :)

This whole interview is so far the best advertisement for Zuck's toy but for me they are still in uncanny valley. When there is no ambient. When they make hand gestures that get completely lost ... and of course what they talk about in this short take-out.
Of course you don't need to shave to get the capture shaved or let your beard grow for months to get an impressive beard or whatever you want to look like.
... and then there is the privacy issues with this toy that's heavily controlled by one company.
Once they can attach that to a sufficient bot this will be Hugh. Lex is right. The ability to speak to „dead relatives“ is a game changer. Almost anyone will want to have an avatar so that the loved once that are left behind have something to turn to. Also, the idea that „grandpa“ can have a talk with his grandchild that was to young when he was still alive is powerful.
So creepy but I agree with you. People will do away with death and tell their kids that grandpa lives in that screen now.
