I think this Tim character is full on touched in the head, he's illiterate so she taught him to read. He also didn't understand death, and his own family describes him as "simple".
But this lady likes it when he hops around her yard like a kangaroo so I guess happiness is all that matters 🥰
This might be how AI takes over because they can remain simple. People are constantly outgrowing themselves which makes sticky relationships hard.
