There is a cultural belief that putting food on the floor even if it's in a container is disrespectful or offensive.

Yes, the floor is dirty. It's lava, I get it.

If I may I remind you where your food came from. You're also qeating a dead animal with something that grew in the dirt outside.

"A little dirt never killed anybody" that is what my nan used to say πŸ’œπŸš’πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ˜Ž

True dat.

5 second rule unless it's in public. Germs are good for immune systems, it's a topic nostr:nprofile1qqszd44fgen4ucpl3hjt7muuaazzqdahp3lwu9c07phdweelcdxf3ugpr4mhxue69uhkummnw3ezucnfw33k76twv4ezuum0vd5kzmp0qyg8wumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnddakj7qg6waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxwet5v9kxy7fwvdhk6tmkxyrm4r76 is very passionate about and we've had many discussions on the cornychat.

This is true. I've got friends whose kids are "indoor grown" and rarely get exposed to dirt and germs. They get sick often. And so does she.

I have pics of Jr when he was a year or so with what looks like chocolate on his face...it's dirt and it's multiple different days πŸ˜‚. He was never sick. Dose them a little at a time.

Also allergies. There's a lot of research showing being raised on a farm is incredibly healthy for children.

My allergies cycle. I'll be fine for years and then they're awful. This is a they're awful year, it's been wet here and the grass has grown all summer instead of dying.

Oh yeah. It's moreso serious life threatening allergies. They are much less prevalent in farm kids. Something about early exposure helping the body get used to unknown substances. So even if the allergies exist they are less likely to be severe.

I live in a city with cottonwoods that didn't exist near where I was raised. I hate them, my eyes get so unhappy during cotton season 😭🫩

Oof! That's a rough one. I should've read the thing instead of skimming πŸ˜‚. But yeah, the keeping your kids away from peanuts and peanutbutter until they are over a year or two was a terrible idea. We did little tastes of the big allergy foods as soon as he was eating solids and monitored for rashes πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I had a co-worker who's child had peanut allergies. They fixed it by slowly introducing them to peanut products, under supervision of their pediatrician.

Great parents!

This still works for adults. My epipen friend got over it by micro dosing. Also with doctor supervision. It took long but he finally got to enjoy peanut butter.

Exactly what they did, yes! That kid loves peanut butter now πŸ˜‚

Wholeheartedly believe in this

Best thing you can do for your gut microbiome and immune system is stop washing your hands πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ people think I’m sooooo gross πŸ˜‚

Ok. I’m listening.

πŸ›πŸͺ±

πŸ˜„ Idk. I used to love the taste of engine grease with my lunch but I get tired of it after a week.

That’s completely different πŸ˜‚

You nasty πŸ˜‚. Nah I agree with you up to a point. And if it wasn't for pollen, I'd rarely be sick.

And they all live on the planet that's literally named after dirt.
