Thinking of moving a website that is on WordPress to custom designed. I have a dev in India giving me a quote. I've always used WordPress since 2008 when I changed from static html...

The site in question is a directory site for my clients that sell our products. I currently have 400 listings and could probably have double that if I tried, biggest problem currently is only 138 pages are indexed on good... Also Google search console says my site has over 17,000 pages which it doesn't. I've had 3 WordPress themes and nothing but problems since 2015.

WordPress seems to get the most hacking and malware. I'm sick of it.

What are the Indian quotes like? WordPress is shit. But you might be able to get this done pretty cheap with a fairly simple CMS.

I wouldn't want to see a fellow nostrich get ripped off on an easy web dev priject...

Like $950 actually he was a dev that worked 2 us based devs ago that screwed me. I've been friends with him on Facebook for like 5 years. When I moved from doing it myself to the dev he jacked me all up using shitty Divi, which I hated after he revamped, then I decided to move my sites back to my own vps and fucker wouldn't give me cpanel access because he had all his websites under one cpanel instead of creating accounts for each project. So I used a WordPress plugin to get them moved and they haven't been right since. I have another site that had over 300 self hosted podcasts that every fucking podcast was broken to the individual pages... I ended up going to a podcast hosting service and re-linking them all recently it had been over 3 years because I was so pissed I was just going to shit can the site, but there are some really good podcasts on there from some friends that are deceased and other good content.

I left wordpress back in 2017. I’m not nearly doing anything at the scale you are, but I could only imagine how crazy hard that would be to move services

I'm definitely keeping a backup, just in case I want to go back. For the quote they are going to move all the listings for me. They said it will be more secure since it won't have all the shitty plug-ins that WordPress uses.

I didn't know if it's a thing that would work for you or not, but I'm pretty happy with Hugo.

It's a static site generator.

It's what I'm using for https://LightningThrashes.com
