WoT will be broken before it even starts if people are this incredibly gullible
all these people break it if they give credibility to fake accounts bc they have tons of people that will trust them instead of verifying 
Who are you talking about?
Anyone who follows, reposts, replies to and interacts with fake accounts get us further away from a working WoT.
Example: if my following count is 100 and 50 of my following follows a fake account and interact with it and puts it on my feed for me to see every day, how likely is it for that fake npubs WoT to be high enough for me to blindly trust it
If half of the people you follow interact with an account maybe itβs because itβs valuable or because half your follows are bots or retarded. βFakeβ might be too subjective a label in this case.

most of my following are men as is most of our current community on nostr and most technology enthusiast at large, thatβs my following, now introduce into the equation a fake profile which is a profile of a person that does not exist, is not real, yes the picture is might be real but thereβs 50+ different pictures of different girls attached to one nostr identity making that user what I like to call a fake profile, my following isnβt necessary retarded or bots, they are simply of human nature gullible & men that can think well with their heads but when it comes to boobies n a pretty face one head takes charge.

New accounts can be real people or not. You never know and You're not going to go verify a person who was Born yesterday with 1 follow who is their mom π€·π½

But maybe that's just me. I don't have a lot of Bitcoin. I only started getting be l Bitcoin because of Nostr. So I guess I'm conservative with it. I zap notes that seem worth it to me and there's nothing beyond that.

Iβd politely disagree my fren, one easy way of verifying nostr:npub12z8jsett3k6rv9fa2guau5p540qr2xuvjzkr8e432mglafjt99sqkw9zmx is real is by reaching out to her on social media accounts where her digital footprint extends years, IG & twitter.. I did this myself before I interacted with her, and I tend to do this with many other profiles asking for them to their reply on those socials to a dm or to add their nostr profile to their linktree links they have on those legacy social media profiles.
One way of finding those profiles is if theyβre using the same name on here as they were in their legacy social medias (good sign) then a google search of their username is all you need to find those accounts (IG,Twitter,etc), if not you can use google image search to drop in a picture they have here on nostr to see if you find a trace of it on the internet, most likely youβll get a hit on 3/10 pictures, sometimes you wonβt get any hits if theyβre ai generated, then in that case you need a trained eye which not many posses. But they are so obvious if you spend more than an hour on the internet every single day of your life.

WoT on nostr should make use of replaceable events so that people can correct their mistakes if they vouch for a profile and later discover theyβve been duped. Alternatively, if 10 people get duped and vouch for a bad actor but just one person discovers itβs a bad actor, you should be able to attest that youβve discovered this is a bad actor and crank up your confidence in your attestation so it carries more weight. This is why trust attestations and influence scores need a field for confidence.
Follow and mute lists are already replaceable. 1984s are also useful.

I wonder if people would want a feature that alerts them if theyβre following someone who has been reported or muted above some threshold number of times, so they can review and check if it was a careless follow
otoh we wouldnβt want a system that could cause a positive feedback loop and result in an innocent account getting piled-on

The reason WoT works is because it happens at the margins.
Which means that if my social network wants to βpill onβ on reporting someone, say because they want to cancel some Alex Jones character, they are free to do so and my tooling could reflect that my social circle has ostracized that npub.
That wouldnβt have an effect on other parts of the social graph or the network at large or to other algorithms and tools.
So yeah, I think it would be useful if tooling would report/flag accounts the user follows that their graph has indicated is suspicious.

The whole point of all of this is to "don't trust, verify." WoT is the opposite of that and really kind of dumb, IMO.
