I’m ashamed to admit I haven’t run my own node but I’m now going to. What’s the best way to go about it? Raspi? Cheap laptop? Any tips appreciated!

Old laptop to start, desktop if you’re a bit more proficient. The pi is a good benchmark for how shitty of a machine you can run core on, not a standard to model after. Look at my #proxmox ramblings

Cheap laptop might be cool since raspi is a little weak. Plus it’s low key (opsec etc)

Cheap laptop or 1 liter PC. Dell for example. Avoid the Pi IMO unless you have one and are strapped for cash. Don't buy a new Pi. Much better to get a refurb 1 liter PC off Ebay or old laptop

I ran nodes on Pis for years. A PC is much better

In my experience, if you go with a Raspi don't go for less than Raspi4 8GB RAM and 1TB SSD disk, especially if you plan to add electrumx server or similar.

Go on eBay and buy a cheap older model office tower. The slim form factor ones don’t take up much space and older dells or HPs are $50 to $80. (Just make sure it comes with a power cord)

Splurge on a 1TB or 2TB SSD and you are good to go

Have a backup battery or use a laptop

Intel celtron or better, minni PC and start9 Embassy OS.

FutureBit Apollo II Miner with Node is a great option, if not a pricier one compared to something like a RasPi or even Umbrel device.
