Family over Fiat

After years in academic medicine, I’m closing one chapter and starting another. My work has been deeply meaningful—caring for the sickest patients and tackling the toughest cases. But it came at a cost. I’ve missed milestones and moments with my family—dinners, bedtimes, and the simple joys that add up to a lifetime of memories.

I’ve made the decision to step into a new role as an anesthesiologist at a practice that offers an incredible amount of balance. It’s a rare opportunity to continue doing the work I love while also gaining the time and space to focus on what matters most: making memories with my wife and kids and exploring other passions such as mission work.

One reason I’m able to make this choice is because of Bitcoin. It’s not just the best savings technology that exists—it’s also a mindset. Bitcoin has taught me to think with a low time preference, to value what truly matters in the long run: family, time, and the things fiat can’t buy.

I’m grateful for the lessons learned in my career and the new opportunities ahead. Most of all, to building a future that prioritizes what really counts.

Congratulations!! Your priorities are bang on! Family first! 🙌🏻

Took me an embarrassingly long time to figure it out 😢

Hindsight is always 20/20. All is not lost though. While you can’t go back to reclaim those moments, you can savour the opportunities you have moving forward! Perhaps you will treasure the time even more so having experienced the other side of the coin! 😊
