GM Nostr, I've got a dog training question. Princess Aurora has started resource guarding and it's getting to the point where I've got to stop it. I don't understand why its happening because there is always food available here, one of the three dog bowls upstairs is always full and I keep her dog bowl full in my room.

However, she is not eating her food anymore. Instead she guards it fiercely and attacks the other dogs if they even look in my room. She instead takes the other dogfood throughout the house which is not a huge problem as there is plenty, but it's just not behavior I want to encourage.

I've been taking her food away when she's not eating it but she's just whining like she's starving, but will still not eat the food when I set it out just goes back to guarding it. Wtf is happening in her brain and how do I correct her behavior?

Working on puppy training myself atm. Luckily I got him young and I've had experience puppy training.

Yea she's my first dog. I've had her since she was only 3 months old! She's a little sweetheart otherwise but this behavior isn't ideal 😅

Definitely want to curb it. No dog whisperer. But that behavious is learned for life if not corrected. Your right to seek advice start with above mentioned 👊.

It may be a good idea to find out if she's sick.

I took her to the vet a few times over the past few weeks getting rid of the cheat grass in her ears and an infection it caused. It all seems to be cleared up now but we have another follow up on a few weeks so I'll ask them too 💖

GM!

The food is always available? Maybe try putting it down only at meals time?
