Some people don't understand value for value and it shows. These groups of individuals will use ad supported clients in the future. I don't blame them. It's all they've known over the past two decades. It's hard to get out of that mindset. We must work hard to find and push better funding models.

The rat race chasing funding without creating independent value to buy bitcoin is outdated, but you don’t hear me though. 
It’s amazing how willing people are to give up all their leverage and stake in something.

Enlist the meme makers to make a campaign of why v4v is important... And post the campaign here but also on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook... To try to enlighten the masses.
That will probably be the way to go forward. Either you use a free client that wastes a little screen space showing you ads, or you pay a small subscription fee to use the same client without ads, because as you say, not everyone understands V4V or appreciates the work that goes into developing and maintaining product or service.
