I just read something very interesting today. AI is not here to replace senior programmers, it is here to augment the capacity of junior programmers. So there is no place for mid-experienced programmers I guess, those are the most at risk.
And here we thought it was Bitcoin that'd make us multi-millionaires
learn linux and the AI's will cower in fear anytime you step into the datacenter.
That's what happened to us, in logistics. They told everyone that truck drivers would get replaced by autonomous LKWs, and then there were suddenly fewer truck drivers but even fewer autonomous LKWs.
It's already happening. Young people are turning away from software engineering.
I'm already in the senior-citizen programmer section, there's a big bulge behind me, and then nothing. People who aren't coding in their late teens and early twenties usually don't switch later.

Secure uC world is worse. Almost everyone in there has been there since the industry started.
That was like 50 years ago
Thereβs a shortage of new hires
Our test department is also mostly over-40s. Testing scene is a Big Drought.
No one does their job properly either
Well, we do. But that's why the last three hires quickly got fired, again. π
yeah man... it's a job i could turn my hand to. i learned m68k assembler in my teens, my first was BASIC and the reason i like Go is because it's like those old systems, and like we'll see when there is benchmarks, there won't be a faster nostr relay than mine.
And every user of software looses this game for weaker code and less testing or bug fixing.
I wish lol
Diabolical.
