My take on #ICE.

The current situation surrounding immigration is deeply complex and cannot be oversimplified into black-and-white terms. It's undeniable that targeting innocent individuals is never acceptable, yet we must understand the broader narrative.

Reports indicate that over 11 million undocumented immigrants have entered various states, many of whom may have criminal backgrounds, including serious offenses such as murder, drug trafficking, and sexual assault. The challenge of addressing these realities is akin to trying to put the ketchup back in the bottle—it's a messy affair.

Critics argue that for decades, policies perceived as left-leaning have dismantled the foundations of law and order, not only in the United States but also across Europe. Now, as calls for restoring safety grow louder, the potential for collateral damage escalates. Tragically, lives are being lost, and this is a somber reality we cannot ignore.

The pressing question is: how do we maintain social stability without descending into chaos or civil unrest? The answer lies in adherence to established rules and laws—what many nations call a constitution. When these guiding principles are disregarded, it is no wonder that society begins to unravel. Thoughts?

Funny to hear people who made money skirting laws around finance talk about rule of law. Funny that people talk about freedom when they welcome fascism in when number go up. Funny how fucking hypocritical money makes people in general.

nohting is black/white - certain points r never acceptable in civil society.

The issue was created by politicians to get people to vote for them. Just like the war on drugs. All Americans are the descendants of immigrants.

The only issue is that people keep giving away their power to psychopaths.

... or are themselves immigrants. The only "natives" are the tribes that where here when the Europeans arrived.

Not sure if correct. It is still important to remember.. the Mexican taxidriver in NYC even if immigrated illegally is not the issue. The drug dealer however is. Try to enter UAE as an illegal… that’s my point.

There's an argument that the taxi driver is competing for resources like housing (complicated but probably some factor) and jobs (more complicated but also not entirely false)

And the scale of it was significant enough

Is this a global conspiracy or just an American one? Was European illegal immigration created by politicians as well?

Funny how nothing in the US Constitution says anything about immigration -- but plenty about the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 8th, and 10th amendments that are being routinely violated by ICE.

This thing is so f up.. it is not ones and zeros where you know who the bad guy is. Why do we have to show ID on passports while others get a carte blanche? On the other hand how do you fix a situation where a dozen million illegals got deported by democrates into some disneyland country without a boarder?

I think it's worth interrogating what exactly the "problem" is there.

Let's take a metaphor of avocados. Say you had "free trade" of Avocados. The anti-immigration position is basically if you do this, you'll have a situation where avocados are flooding the street, piled up in every building, there's guacamole running down the streets, etc etc....

That's ludicrous right? Because the answer is supply and demand. People move to areas where there are more opportunity, in general. This applies both to migration between countries as well as intra-nation migration, which all of these arguments would seem to apply to as well...

On your last part. Lets be clear. Its about illegal immigration. Immigration is necessary, illegal is not.

Not an easy situation. Can't really make a call for either side right away. Fucked up nonetheless.
