of the Dutch party Forum voor Democratie about the challenges of bringing Bitcoin into Dutch politics. He said that Dutch citizens are far ahead in adoption, while the government still largely ignores the topic.

This is totally unacceptable. We are being subjected to algorithms we do not understand, making decisions we can only guess, enforcing shadow bans we are unaware of, and imposing censorship without transparency. This cannot be the future.

From a consumer perspective, I follow people, yet they never appear in my timeline again. I can follow or unfollow anyone I want, but the algorithm still chooses what I end up seeing.

I guess it feels a bit like voting in our so called democracies 😉

I believe everyone should be able to build and fine tune their own algorithm to decide what they see, how often they see it, and from whom. We need tools that empower users to meet their complex needs and preferences. Will this ever be possible on Nostr?

What's happening on social media platforms worldwide, in Europe, especially in Germany, with regards to censorship is alarming. People with entirely legitimate criticism, even relatively soft criticism, are being silenced and censored. Obedience to a system like that cannot be an option if you cherish freedom and sovereignty.
