mental illness, psychiatric disorders, marginalization, institutionalization, caregiver abuse..

i just rarely rarely see it out here

when i find it, i wanna amplify in 2026

i think the art is important, i think the conversations are important, and im also thinking about it in terms of bayo akomolafe's monsters and the cracks

a means of control, forced colonization, forced domesticity, forced civilization

once diagnosed a monster on record, your social position is so precarious

forever can this weaponized against you

and whenever you, the monster, speak of abuse, neglect, betrayal, lack of care, failures in the system, failures interpersonally

you get told:

well, they were scared

you made them uncomfortable

of course they were frightened

you are dangerous

they had to distance

for their own safety they had to do this

they were centering themselves

they were worried about drowning too

unhoused? homeless?

you have to understand why they treat you like that

your presence in material reality on earth reminds them that this could happen to them

so naturally, as a defense mechanism, they have to see you as not them. they have to see you as a series of bad choices they would never make to feel safer inside their bodies

everyone gets to be scared

everyone gets to be a coward

and you get to die

that is what marginalization means pragmatically

they get to fail you because they are only human

and you get to die because you arent

besides the fact that caring is the right thing to do

besides that fear, while natural, is a bullshit excuse, too

can also, both personally and collectively astro riff and will
