My understanding is core may allow larger files in, which would therefore take up more space.. I am merely speculating from my very limited understanding.

That’s wrong.

The block size isn’t being changed.

So blocks aren’t any bigger in core 30 then they where for core 29, 28, 27, knots, 29, 28, 27 etc

No worries. If you really are worried about block space you can run what’s called an spv node

You can contribute to having less spam make it into the blockchain.
