Newbie experience is somewhat frustrating on #nostr :(
Discussion
Hey dude make sure to introduce yourself to #plebchain. And follow many accounts as you wish to see more varied content in your feed.
You already have a keypair and post notes, you're a nostr expert.
What client are you using?
I am using damus - not throwing shade, it looks nice and all! But could use some onboarding
Extremely sorry for that. If possible, could you please share your experience in detail so that we can identify areas for improvement here? Whenever you are free.
Thank you for reaching out! I am using damus, with the preconfigured settings. First time I open the app I only see messages from Will nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s , and when I click on his profile pic it says that he has 1.5K followers. However, googling around I found the primal web client, where the same account appears to have 142K followers, which may be due to my (preconfigured) set of relays. This, combined with not being able to find accounts that I knew must exist, overall it left me with a feeling of "missing the plot", and I am not a low-tech person by any stretch. I feel like some onboarding/hand-holding at the beginning would do a world of difference, I'm sure 99% of family & friends would have given up at this stage
the first few days you just have to look :(
Follow yourself too, so that you can see your own posts. Just experiment and things will make more sense.
Damus made me follow myself by default. Indeed clarity emerges bit by bit
No pain, no gain
This was me w Twitter long time ago when I tried it out once or twice. Only knew Facebook or Hyves back then. Didn't understand nothing ab how Twitter worked.
Everything has a learning curve.
It can be, but I feel like nostr has to be earned. Once the penny drops it can feel empowering.
But I understand where your coming from in regards onboarding.

Don't give up! The UX is still a little clunky, but you'll get the gist of it pretty quickly.
Also, as Gigi said, the hugs make up for a difficult experience ๐ซ๐ซ๐ซ
I use damus mostly, but primal is a great tool for discovering new people to follow. Searching for people you don't follow often comes up empty on most clients, although it's improving. Early on you'll find "posts and replies" most engaging than the main feed. Check out some hashtags as well. Some of the more active ones that aren't bitcoin or nostr specific are #grownostr #running #foodstr and #coffeechain. Happy to help if you have other questions.
Yeah it can be overwhelming! Just try to do one thing a day, and be satisifed with that because you're building on something at least.
Check out https://www.uselessshit.co/resources/nostr for one and there are countless other sites I'd be happy to point your way.
