Perhaps there's a similar effect with men. Mary is our universal adoptive mother. What becomes of men when you remove that maternal figure?
Likewise, it's almost certainly good for us to remember that our salvation only happened through a woman's fidelity.
Our salvation was given by Jesus our lord and savior. Nothing more. Nothing less.

In Luke, when she says, "Be it done unto me according to thy word," the Latin word for "be it done" is "fiat."
So we speak of her unreserved assent to and cooperation with God's plan for salvation as her Fiat.
