A passport is only needed if you travel abroad, we have up to now, wandered the streets without the need to prove our identity on request.

When the cops stop you, do they ask for an ID card or driver's licence?
Yes, we have driving licenses, but don’t need to carry or show them.

We never have it on us. They write us a ticket and we are supposed to show up at a police station with a few days with our driving license.

On my driver's it says South African and where it was issued and my ID card is my national ID. Does this not exist?
