Tbh any cashu wallet like ENuts, Minibits or Cashu.me would be best
I’m putting together a list of Lightning wallets to recommend to customers who visit nostr:npub1key55ax33gkl50uqemvl4khrtqrhzm7wzpc7fhseutt5ddkcwcrqgxlt3h and want to learn how to buy a beer at the bar. ⚡️🍺
Requirement 1: It needs to be easy to set up for someone with minimal bitcoin knowledge, or has experience with crypto but never used Lightning before
Requirement 2: It needs to work without a VPN in New York (and the US in general) – this means NO Strike, Cash App, ZBD, Primal, Phoenix, WoS, etc.
This is a surprisingly hard list to write.

These are super easy to setup and use. Everything is still lightning sats. Very easy and intuitive for noobs.
I've on boarded several folks directly to ecash and they send SATs no problem.
But if they need to get on-chain into Cashu/Ecash they still need to use nostr:npub1psm37hke2pmxzdzraqe3cjmqs28dv77da74pdx8mtn5a0vegtlas9q8970 which is a terrible mobile UX.
I do agree with you there; seamless onchain to lightning is very hard to do like a Phoenix, WoS, etc.
Best I'd say is a Breez, but not sure how on chain works there anymore
Confirmed, Breez is still awesome.
Lightning & onchain work great
Self-custodial
Built-in apps to buy services, including buy Bitcoin no KYC with azteco

I Need to use Breez more!
You guys are making me take another look at Breez, which is probably the first or second Lightning wallet I ever used. I still remember how confused I was at the beginning, not understanding the relationship between on-chain transactions and channels, and I try to remember that when I think about onboarding new users.
