This type of thinking only increases the divide, imo.
Discussion
This type of thinking is called being honest and objective. The type of thinking you’re doing is called magical thinking. Where you believe that what’s happening can be wished away by pretending it’s not as prevalent as it truly is.
I don’t believe I’m doing magical thinking, I just try to stay true to what is right in my mind. And pinpointing the death of one on the collective of another when that exact mindset fuels nothing but more hate and rage doesn’t seem right to me.
Like I said
CASE AND POINT ☝🏼
What exactly did you say? Are you blaming it on me because I support single payer healthcare? Are you blaming it on my neighbor who supports the EPA? Are you blaming it on my mailman who supports same sex marriage?
Are you blaming it on Liz Cheney for calling out autocratic behavior?
So is calling Hitler behavior Hitler behavior.
You can’t say “the other side is an existential threat causing mayhem and murder” and then get upset at them for saying mean things about your side
Do I need to Bert and Ernie this for everybody?
Murdering popular American conservatives on college campuses, Ukrainian refugees on trains, healthcare executives outside of hotel lobbies, and Christian school children in classes or during morning mass increases the divide.
Pointing out culpability is simply pointing out reality.
Culpability resides in the individuals responsible as well as a growing passion in hating a collective of individuals in society. Whether that be left hating right or right hating left. Calling out the death of one individual as the responsibility of a collective of many isn’t reality in the slightest.
The individuals who did the murdering are distinctly responsible for their actions, yes.
And what worldview were those individuals shaped by? One of woke, progressivist, Marxist, godless ideology. A worldview that frames man like Kirk as a fascist Nazi pig deserving of death. A worldview that celebrates such a man's assassination as not only justified but morally and politically necessary.
This is a worldview shared by a majority of those on the political and cultural Left wing.
I understand that a lot of folks on Nostr are anarcho libertarian types who exalt individualism and reject the left/right frame. I won't make assumptions about where you are. But I will say that reality is comprised of more than just individualism. Left and right are not always helpful categories but in instances like this are appropriate because individuals don't act in a vacuum. The Left is comprised of people who by their own volitions enjoin themselves to a particular collective set of dogmas, rituals, liturgies, and beliefs.
Theirs is a culture of death. And you know them by their fruit.
I don’t think this type of thinking is up for much debate. I respect your opinion but disagree. I am not godless. There are multiple similar comments on the Bible by which my viewpoint is framed but this is one:
“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
