I support Elon's mission to shrink the gov, its been something guys like me have talked about forever. It is so massive and bloated it has to get cut wayy back to rein things in to a sustainable and manageable level. Of course they will throw everything they possibly can to stop him, the pigs stand to loose the most.

Indeed. Bill Clinton and Al Gore had a congressionally-approved department to do just this in the '90s. They didn't do it haphazardly though and then find they had to immediately rehire air-traffic controllers, nuclear facility managers, and others right back however.
Supporting a goal and supporting someone's particular method of achieving it are two very different things. Musk likes to just state the problem when asked to justify what he's doing. That may trick the sympathetic followers, but it's not an answer to the question. Stating the problem doesn't justify someone's solution.
