I learned to never talk bitcoin with normies a long time ago. You’re wasting your time. If normies bring up bitcoin I never engage. I simply say, “oh I don’t know much about it” and change the conversation. It has saved me countless headaches.

I had a boomer ask me about XRP recently, this was my answer.
I buy bitcoin because I'm not putting all my value in something someone else gets for free. I'm not trusting my life savings to something where 1 person can change the rules on a whim. XRP foundation gave themselves most of the supply for free before anyone else got a single token. The foundation can also change the rules at any time because it isn't distributed. So basically you have reinvented the federal reserve scam with less oversight.
I don't know if they really got it. I do know it made my position clear enough they didn't ask me about it anymore.
Yeah, I tried with this sort of response. What I got back was totally dismissive:
