To my knowledge, the only way to have a functional Lightning Blue Wallet is to self host, like as you mentioned, BW ended custodial hosting services a while back.

Maybe shoot it over on chain to a Muun Wallet and then transfer to a lightning wallet of your choice?

I see, what you mean is that BW no longer has a Lightning wallet hosting service, nor does it have a default Lightning node. So I can't transfer out of BW, I need to find a wallet that has lightning node hosting, and this wallet also has a Bitcoin wallet on the chain. So I can transfer money from the on-chain Bitcoin wallet to the Lightning wallet?

Yes, or connect BW Lightning to a node you’re running. Those are the two options.

You can connect an Alby Account to BlueWallet, what allows you to keep using the same app for bitcoin onchain and lightning. https://guides.getalby.com/alby-guides/alby-lightning-account/connect-your-alby-lightning-account-to-other-apps/connect-to-mobile-apps/connect-to-bluewallet

Alby also gives you a bitcoin onchain address to convert to lightning.
