Ofc not. It only verifies that most likely it’s coming from the person who posted it if the account has other proves and the person has a reputable history.

It’s still better than nothing. Not sure whether proof of location is possible even.

Better yet, turn the image into a merkle tree and put the merkle root on-chain… saves the journalists money and still gives them a way to timestamp data without bloating the chain.

If readers have the pubkey of the journalists they trust, it could be interesting to fight disinformation.

Then find the image on hornet nostr relays and pay for it with bitstream… can request the image using its merkle root, like you request nostr notes with their note hash.

Nostur has a signer has a feature on the client.

Also the “verify message signatures” could be extended to show that the image hash is the original hash.
