I would look at refurb dell micro towers. And and brand new SSD to swap in. And I can suggest looking at Start9 OS. This is what I’m running now.
The refurb dell is probably still cheaper than the RasPi and it is WAY more powerful.
nostr:npub1hxfkcs9gvtm49702rmwn2aeuvhkd2w6f0svm4sl84g8glhzx5u9srk5p6t We are starting to invest in the equipment to run a node. Today we look at the Umbrel. We are wondering what other equipment/ software we will need in addition to the Umbrel. So far we understand we need:
•UPC
•SD Card Reader
• Raspberry Pi? Anything else for noobs with no idea but prepared to learn?

Thank you so much! Our journey begins today, though we have been discussing it for many months now. We are ignorant but willing to learn.
Let me know if I can help!
Thanks for this information. I use nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll and I have been looking for affordable solution to replace my raspberry pi.
I got a dell micro for like $100 usd on Amazon and then popped in the new SSD.
I see many affordable options. Is it fairly simple to migrate the node from the raspberry pi?
Yep. Should just install the SSD. Flash the SD card with the latest version. Start the install. It will ask you if you want to restore.
Backup the old Start9. Including any lightning channels. Take it offline.
Then restore from backup on the new hardware.
As always. Double. Check their documentation they do a really good job of explaining how to restore from backup. The import this is to not let the Channel states change between the backup and the restore.
My dell build synced the full bitcoin chain in like 27hrs. Versus like a week with the pi.
