I used to do irrigation going through school. My biggest take away was working with the boss & his phone rings after taking to the lead of the other crew. He points at his cell & goes:

“ you know before these cells people would make choices and most of them were great, now everyone ls too scared to make a decision so i now need to hand hold & ok every out of scope idea, its taxing”

True story, no one can make a command decision anymore

That's wisdom. I have seen it first hand in the management teams at the restaurants I currently work for. They don't make an effort, they just call up for answers and reassurance, and the GMs set no boundaries either which makes it even worse.

many, many people don't like making decisions. always been an observation of mine.

I agree, however when you are in the “lead” position you need to lead

a lot of my mid-level success was simply taking the responsibility to be a decision maker
