Question for #AUStriches - have you ever heard of parents-to-be being refused and being told they’re ‘not allowed to say’ when they ask for the gender of their unborn child at an ultrasound?

Happened to friends in Sydney this week.

Bruh, this all will end soon. So stupid.

my guess is concerned about being sued from saying something and it not being correct (rather than some culture wars bullshit)

Australia is not overly litigious, I’ve never heard of anyone suing over this here. However that they were told “not allowed” makes me think that being sued is the concern of the clinic and they’re the ones prohibiting it as opposed to any rule or law.

Permit needed for that.

Fine of $1000 if you ask more than once.

😂😂

Seems ridiculous and need to change clinics I say

Nope

I believe the person doing the ultrasound is not allowed to say, if it's not the obstetrician. Some new practice?

Partner a few months ago had a similar issue where the sonographer doing an ultrasound couldn't (wouldn't?) provide details and it was the GP who revealed findings.

So strange. Isn’t the sonographer is supposed to be ‘the expert’ in that loop, why does the message need to filter through a GP?

You would think hey! Perhaps, in the event the news is unsatisfactory, the GP is more well eqipped to handle trauma or other difficult conversations? My best guess 🤷

Next they’ll require only psychiatrists give the news because they’re the only ones qualified to handle emotions 🙄

and you have to go through a huge long questionaire and waitlist to get one.

and that is all mandatory to have children, ofc. otherwise you will be put in jail and your children separated from you and put in foster homes to provide meat for our benefactors.

Sounds like that doctor caught a bad case of the woke virus.

Congratulations! Your child is non-binary!
