lol definitely not in North Carolina. Last year I went swimming on New Year’s Day in Texas though!! That was really fun!
Sheesh! Christmas day when I was 17, I walked through about an 1 inch of snow and jumped in the ocean to go surfing in Virginia Beach 🥶 Full wetsuit, booties, gloves obviously
That sounds exhilarating!! Texas on New Year’s Day 2024 was equivalent to a warm Fall day. The water was inviting.
I usually have to just jump in all the way. If I try to get in slow, it's brutal! Sounds like you had fun!
The quicker the better usually lol. Last year I did quite a few cold plunges in a frozen lake that had opened up a little now that was frigid but so amazing!
Really does take your breathe away! Ive done some cold swims in triathlons where my brain almost forgot how to breathe correctly it was so cold...haha

The weird thing about wetsuits is that they do keep you warm but are so tight at first when the waters that cold, it kinda contricts your ability to breathe deep. Then, sometimes,.people panic. You'll see them grab onto a nearby kayak during a race to "catch their breathe"
Oh that’s interesting and good to know! I’ve never put on a wetsuit but perhaps an adventure in the future will suggest one. I’ll keep this in mind. Thanks for sharing! ☺️
