Self custody your life savings - duh

But whatever just risk $50 on a custodial lightning wallet, what's the big deal, who cares if you get rugged?

You'll probably lose more on channel closes and utxo management trying to self custody your zaps rather than just use minibits or alby or whatever

Yeah, agreed for now.

But I think holding higher amounts on Lightning wallets will become more common, once on-chain fees are consistently high. You don't wanna spend those fees all the time you charge up some 200 USD worth of sats.

Suddenly self-custody Lightning becomes more interesting. I like seeing many companies trying to make it easier.

selective outrage

Been saying this for a while. The problem with the gold standard was that the banks held most of your wealth so the rug risk was huge. Lightning custodians are practically Bitcoin banks but they don’t hold your life savings. All the fear of your lightning wallet rugging your pocket change is silly. Meanwhile WoS is still running with no headaches and force closure fees 🤷‍♂️

Used WoS for a primarily for zaps only. Completely no kyc, then I could only get send. So trying to zap with a different client isn’t as smooth. Tried breez open and closed channels. Didn’t care for UX. Still looking for the holy grail of ⚡️

🎯. Self custody lightning sucks

Agree... I have spent over 100,000 sats to manage lightning channels over time...

YOU KNOW ITS TRUE I KNOW YOU DO

Agreed. This is the truth no one wants to hear 🤝

Zap sent from WoS 🤷🏾‍♂️

When I see people bragging about self-custodial zapping i can't help but laugh

strongly agree; but when reach 150-200$, in low fees environment, would start a self custodial solution to keep sats and start build a future utxo, a phoenix wallet is a so easy still so effective solution and will cost not so much.

Custodial lightning wallets serve as a prelude to self-custody, particularly in terms of transaction costs.
