Being able to send money to people with things other than Zaps (I know workarounds already exist but it's more technical users that can utilize those tools).
What kind of other things?
Well, I mean for beginners on-Chain Bitcoin but I've seen some tools enable Monero too.
Overall, replacing zaps with something like a https://coindrop.to/ ,BTC Payserver, Bitcart, Bitrequest, or some other type of implementation where people could send different currency types as The Nostr ecosystem grows, and begins to foster Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Dash, Zcash, etc. users.
Around Nostr those "other things" are known as 💩-coins

Where the only apps available are Nostr apps
2 it’s not controversial, but I’d like to see a YouTube style client, maybe a tik tok style one, and definitely a MySpace style

Because it is inevitable, and considering that's the case, I'd at least prefer if it's done right and in a new better way that would (sometimes) enhance a users' experience (wild I know) on Nostr than how it's traditionally done.
I'd at least like to have a passionate nostr person to take on this undesirable task with the above mindset/approach, rather than a corpo coming in to seize that opportunity and introduce normal ads that everyone will hate absolutely.

I'd embrace ads (without the user profiling), and if advertisers had to pay in sats.. could be a good way to fund Relays? and Devs etc.. I mean eventually, don't know if we have the users yet... BUT it could potentially demonstrate Nostr & Bitcoin functionality to varies companies??
If I ever do start making it, the core two values for it would be:
1. Optional
2. Everyone takes a piece of the pie
That second point would increase zapping activity on nostr to hyperbolic levels, as well as increasing the number of users receiving their first bitcoin and using it "wait what? i got bitcoin? wtf? nice!"
The first point would be a basic on/off switch, and can advance into subscribing/enabling specific ad systems to see ads that you want to see "Just show me PC games ads" for example. And with keyword control, as well as moderation control for ads themselves.
Ads are shit because they make it so, it's a decision, and are involuntary. Ads can be something of desire, yet it doesn't seem like people want to take action to make it desirable, and that's the issue. However, with the development of nostr and bitcoin, that can be definitely achieved now.
Really good ideas! No idea how to code this but will abuse AI to try and make it work 🤣

I'm willing to put up with them if they're not stealing my info, or incredibly obtrusive. It's a way to fund the app and make it make sense to for the devs. Other concepts like sharing part of the income with the sufferers of the ads (the users) are nice potential bonuses.

I have a vision for a good ads system that's very much inline with nostr, and specifically for it only, one that I'd do if given the chance, but if they're already then hey that's one project off of my plate hopefully =3
Checked them out, and it seems like they're on the right track / have the same approach I'd want to go about it, but considering there's yet to be something, can't tell for sure yet (and if they're building it in a way where people can fork it so that more of them are in the market to compete against them in terms of tweaking their values to provide better value).
One thing though, from what they said that I'd not do, is having that fixed time for ad-viewing. On my end, I'd have it so that each individual user decide at which frequency they want to see ads, and for the advertiser to set how much a person can see an ad and at what frequency.
I also wouldn't put a limit on the life of an ad. If relays want to keep it, they keep it, if not then not, and if an advertiser has their own relay then they can keep it forever.
All in all though, happy that they exist and are on the right track, but we'll see.
One thing I would really like to have because it would nullify a lot of the push for censorship, is Twitter style blocking. Not muting (I stop seeing your content) but blocking (I prevent you from seeing mine and interacting with me at all).
But I understand this is a protocol-level feature, not client-dependent.
The protocol can and does change, but I don’t think there’s a verifiable way to guarantee that a relay will honor your wish not to send events to a certain pubkey
A social graph built on contextual proximity based on the Attention is all you need model, like L2, so you can ask it who shares your interests or who is a central node on some topic
Microblogging and/or long-form but clean sheet. Don't show any existing users. And no discovery. You can only build your network from people you proactively add.
Many people who give Nostr a go see the top trending posts are all Bitcoin laser-eyed cyborgs--and that's it, they're out, goodbye, never to return. For those people it would be better not to show anyone or at all, no activity at all. Have it all blank.
Market it as a start-from-scratch concept. Build the whole UI around a clean sheet of paper ethos. (If you think about it there are a lot of UI decisions that would be driven by that.) And emphasise self-ownership above all else. And interoperability to follow--but limit the interoperability to other clients that are also clean sheet, such as event booking for friends a person has already added, or some of the existing chat clients that by nature are clean sheet.

But you can still throw sats around while you are collecting in that 10 mins. Like throwing little awesome zap banana peels at people. Fitting while in the Banana Zone right now….😂
Or what if instead of the zaps going to me there's zapps from participating npubs Go to the npup of my choosing
Controversial yet easy and potentially useful:
Exposing IP addresses from which notes were posted.
People can see if they have leaks in their VPN/ And we can more easily dox pedos when they slip up.
+ It would bring bring more awareness for new users to always have VPN on.
