lol, I actually like when the surge happens because I know I'm still going to get a ride. I certainly don't like paying more, but I usually leave things to the last minute like this and when I see 3x surge pricing, I generally feel both a "fuck me, this is gonna cost a lot," but also a "shit I'd be screwed and no way I'd make it where I need to be if they didn't do this" at the same time.

You know state funded ride share would never show up.
