When I stopped drinking alcohol I started to notice a lot of emotions that were hiding beneath that activity.

I never would have noticed if I hadn't consciously taken a break.

Alcohol damages and dehydrates the body. Happy people don't regularly harm themselves.

This may be hard for some to hear, but it's what I have noticed. The fiat system wouldn't function without liquor keeping people docile.

πŸ’― agree...

How often were you drinking?

Two or three times a week

Usually just a couple of beers, but occasionally I'd get pretty drunk.. maybe once a month I'd get past 6 beers in a night or the equivalent of some other drink.

Positive Mornings are the new beer. Congrats on the journey...alhamdullilah as they say

Thanks for sharing. I have a special occasion this week so I will most likely drink. I rarely drink so I don’t feel it affects my life.

No judgment here πŸ™

Thanks for sharing your experience.. it's a big thing, underrated. πŸ’œπŸ«‚

I am sober for over one year now and don't regret it. I feel better than ever!

Awesome πŸ’ͺ

Thank you

For the most part, any addiction whether it's alcohol, drugs, weed, porn, food, TV, social media scrolling, etc is a form of escapism...

What are you running from?

These emotions aren't that scary to face... Though, it could feel quite uncomfortable. Take it one baby steps at a time and slow your reactionary impulses as you automatically reach out to your regular soothing mechanisms (addictions) because you are unwilling to feel uncomfortable, to feel the pain and the fear and the shame and the guilt and whatever it is...

Activate will power, desire to live fully alive, to feel the full spectrum of emotions and sensations, and face the fear...

Most people are running from their fear of death and yet they are running faster toward death with their addiction to harming their bodies, and leaking and hampering their life force energy.

it's also masking a lot of harm from high carb high sugar fake sugar diets from becoming visible

other types of alcohol than wine are mostly useless other than this one small effect that is overwhelmed by their carb content (beer, cider) - wine is full of other chemicals that further support the insulin response and reduce the damage from sugars directly (they produce a lot more oxidative free radicals than ketogenic metabolism)

i was able to do away with the nicotine, because it was really compelling to me when i realised that it was making me vulnerable to manipulation

alcohol and caffeine are different beasts, they have some useful and beneficial effects but for the most part, once you get your diet right for your body you probably won't be using any kinds of drugs at all

I stopped drinking about a decade ago, after being an alcoholic since my mid-teens. I had used drinking to get away from some stuff that happened in my youth. The most difficult part has been learning to deal with emotions without just turning them off πŸ’œπŸ«‚πŸ‘

Awesome to hear that. Great work man πŸ™πŸ’œ

NGL, some days I wish I could just turn it off again, but not often anymore. There's always more work to be done πŸ«‚πŸ’œ

Agreed. I stopped drinking 23 years ago, I wouldn't be here today if not.

Wow. I have seen a lot of inspiring responses to this. Glad you held it man!
