For the most part, any addiction whether it's alcohol, drugs, weed, porn, food, TV, social media scrolling, etc is a form of escapism...

What are you running from?

These emotions aren't that scary to face... Though, it could feel quite uncomfortable. Take it one baby steps at a time and slow your reactionary impulses as you automatically reach out to your regular soothing mechanisms (addictions) because you are unwilling to feel uncomfortable, to feel the pain and the fear and the shame and the guilt and whatever it is...

Activate will power, desire to live fully alive, to feel the full spectrum of emotions and sensations, and face the fear...

Most people are running from their fear of death and yet they are running faster toward death with their addiction to harming their bodies, and leaking and hampering their life force energy.

Exactly this. The last one left for me is scrolling nostr. I'm letting myself have it for now.

Yah, social media (I only use nostr) is a mixed bag for me. It is defiantly addicting. I try my best to follow people I really enjoy for their humor and or education I get out of their notes. It is challenging to stay the course because people like to repost and there is no way to not see those reposts when scrolling. Once I figured out what clients allow you to turn off replies, that helped staying away from a lot of toxic notes. I really like noStrudel on the desktop and Damus on my iPhone.

There's power in awareness and acknowledgement and releasing guilt from the equation.

I also get it... Been here for less than two weeks but it's definitely turning into something like that for me. 😅

I am definitely acknowledging my addiction to using my tarot deck rn at certain times. Also, coffee in the last couple years.

Also, we can be aware of not turning puritanicle.

There was a theory going around that the algorithms are what made twitter addictive.

Here we are with no algorithms and I am still spending a ton of time on nostr 😅

There's always more to cut out if you feel compelled to go that route. However I don't plan to go do zazen on a mountain for the rest of my life.

There's a balance to be found 🙏

Awe, thank you! I am happy to hear. 🙏🏻❤️ I love you recognizing and highlighting it and giving me credit like that.

it's also masking a lot of harm from high carb high sugar fake sugar diets from becoming visible

other types of alcohol than wine are mostly useless other than this one small effect that is overwhelmed by their carb content (beer, cider) - wine is full of other chemicals that further support the insulin response and reduce the damage from sugars directly (they produce a lot more oxidative free radicals than ketogenic metabolism)

i was able to do away with the nicotine, because it was really compelling to me when i realised that it was making me vulnerable to manipulation

alcohol and caffeine are different beasts, they have some useful and beneficial effects but for the most part, once you get your diet right for your body you probably won't be using any kinds of drugs at all
