That moon yesterday was huge and dominating and crystal clear, not that you can tell from the photo!

What sort of smart phone can take decent pictures of the moon or sky in general? Or is it a matter of settings?

It’s a tricky thing to photograph as many

phones use some form of algorithm to “correct” things, so can be overridden with settings or other camera apps that are available which are designed to make this sort of thing easier.

I tried capturing the moon back in the autumn last year and likewise found it quite difficult to capture.

This was the best I could come up with and it’s still rather burnt out, more like someone shining a torch into my eye!

But, hmm can’t upload images at this moment in time. I’ll try a post later and you’ll see that.

Any joy uploading photos?

As you can see, the tree is the star of the show, the moon looks more like a torch being shone in my face! Will keep trying.

Still better than my efforts. I use entry level smartphones so don't hold much hope for award winning night shots.

Instead of spending bucks on a smarter phone, which I'm bound to break, is there such a thing as an idiot proof digital SLR or whatever a real camera is called, for say 100€ second hand that I can connect to my mac on special occasions?

There might be some cheaper cameras out there, you can pick up bargains these days for digital SLR and/or mirrorless cameras. It’s hard to be more specific than that other than to say have a look on your favourite second hand sites etc.

Cool, but Sony is the camera to aim for. Thanks for helping me avoid the paradox of choice.

Try a search for camera Sony 100 euros, lots come up albeit for me UK centric. Cybershot are really good.
