In order to store data in a SQL database efficiently, you have to mangle it beyond the point of recognition. The data ends up all wrong and jumbled, but hey, it's fast.
what do you mean by mangling? the user has to mangle it? or the database does it?

You take any useful data in the world, and your first thought for organizing it isn't in tables.
It's the process of taking organic data and forcing it into tables that is, in my opinion, mangling.
