The founders of the United States wrote against democracy and attempted to design a modern republic. As soon as 10 years after founding- the Articles of Confederation were replaced by the constitution- which was the first step in the wrong direction. Somewhat tempered by the bill of rights- the constitution laid the foundation for the federal tyranny we see in the US Today.
