The video focusses on creators but users are fcked by bots, fake playlists, AI slop and impersonators as well.
Feels like the artist's version of the same emotional appeal that wallstreet used to get the banks to start printing money. That sucks. Maybe use the right platform.
This simply confirms what I am addressing in this article on The Great Disillusionment. The guy in the video is absolutely "disillusioned", you can hear his exasperation and frustration in his voice. This problem exists because artists may create the content but they don't control the credentials or the custody for their identities or their music. In other words, as I've found someone else recently describe this issue by framing it in the context of The Art of War, they do not "Control The Territory".

Now imagine how Great Disillusionment becomes when the entire digital realm realizes this problem also applies to even LIVE video & audio..?
When businesses and families can no longer trust any cryptographically unverified communication to be valid, what are they to do...
My suggestion is we Rebuild Camelot by taking control of our identities, credentials, and custodyied digital assets.
All those centralized platforms have to go away
I can’t relate to people who choose to rent their music. Anything you love can be taken away, completely out of your control. I spend a lot of effort to own my music collection, living by the ethos, “Not your flac files, not your music.” I guess the common behaviour is people choosing convenience over security, even freedom.
Just started a project with my dad who has a couple walls full of LP’s and cds. Almost digitized!!
After getting my sovereign money, it hit me.
I dont even own my family archive, music, films.
My dad hasn’t caught the sovereign-money-bug yet but he always had his own servers for files, music and films.
Won’t take long before he wants to own his own money 😂
Nostr definitely, unambiguously fixes this.
we gotta get artists to own their identity, revenue, and catalog rights. They're not even making money in the current system.
View and listen analytics are not a great metric... (as example with bots from the video).
