Stablecoins are not stable. They’re guaranteed to lose value because they are pegged to the U.S. dollar, which loses value constantly as the supply of money increases (inflation).

Compared to other fiat currencies, U.S. dollar stablecoins may *appear* to be “stable,” but when measured against Bitcoin, they are guaranteed-loss coins, as nostr:npub1s05p3ha7en49dv8429tkk07nnfa9pcwczkf5x5qrdraqshxdje9sq6eyhe calls them.

It doesn’t take a genius to work this out.

Guaranteed loss coin 😂

Stablecoins are built on a shaky foundation

Credit to nostr:npub1s05p3ha7en49dv8429tkk07nnfa9pcwczkf5x5qrdraqshxdje9sq6eyhe for this unambiguous term 🤌

Bitcoin is the only true stable coin.

I absolutely agree with you. But there are countries which have currencies that are a lot worse. If so-called stablecoins (i.e. US Dollar) is helping people who live on those countries, I believe it's worth the cause.

Agreed. Countries with big debt, high inflation and debased currency will use USD - it is recognized globally. Its the underlying currency in the black market.

It’s why the government supports it. Doesn’t worse or threaten the status quo.

*hurt

Stable to a currency with a main constant that is losing value

Stable rate of value loss

But Walker! Thats the “genius” part about them!

Stablecoins, if contrasted with currencies, have additional third party risk: not only are you trusting the government not to debase the currency, but also that the mint of the pegged token won't rugpull.

Louder for people in the back.

Idk who needs to hear this on Nostr but I love this network too much to spread the signal outside of it.

Stablecoins aka consistently depreciating coin. At least with a paper dollar you can wipe your ass or burn it for warmth if needed.

Still people prefer them for their daily shannanigans. Around here business owner would think twice about receiving USD, more and more transact in USDT and some enthusiasts would love to gamble their income in Bitcoin. The fact that I do not agree with them doesn't make it less real. That's LATAM adoption in a nutshell.

“Straight down coins” just doesn’t quite have the same appeal
