This a tricky setup. With mints, you want to (really have to) trust the guardians…but that also creates a pressure point for the powers at be.
Anon guardians would be a tough sell from a user stand point. Maybe web of trust can help alleviate that?

It actually wasn’t renewed in 2019. But different bills have filled in the holes. They are pushing had to ban encryption. Bitcoin is literally encryption. Their bills say that having encrypted data can make you guilty of a crime if you do not allow you access to your encrypted data. So they could accuse you of something like child pron and ask you hand over your passwords. If you don’t it’s an admission of guilt and you’re guilty.
