I don't know... I mean, maybe to some degree it could work but it could also lead to some twisted incentives & strange stuff trending when attention seekers start stirring controversy intentionally for the sake of trending... or when someone decides to battle trolls. 😂

Or they could create stooge bots to reply to.

The only difference would be that they would have to reply to the bots to maximize their metric, rather than ignoring them.
