I find the human side of journalism to be the most effective. 🫡

It’s an interesting topic. The lack of algorithms in clients has been an often-praised quality of Nostr in my time using it. It’s been one of my personal favorite things about using Nostr. And yet I’m simultaneously part of the team that created Nostr Report, which is a human-powered algorithm if you boil it down 😂 So I think the question of whether an automated algorithm can perform better than a human algorithm is important to consider. I also think defining what “trending” and “Nostr” mean in this context is important. Trending for whom? Trending on which relays? Trending based on which metric(s)? Likes? Reposts? Zaps? Etc … The most appealing non-human approach I’ve seen suggested is to create an algorithm marketplace, where users can define and share their experiences for others to try. Keep it open. Clients implementing any sort of closed algorithms without providing users control are just falling back into the same traps we all escaped by coming to Nostr in the first place.
