Unpopular opinion: Bitcoin Nostr needs to mature and grow up. It's still primarily a "pat each other on the back" platform with a near-constant flow of one-liner comments and memes.

Don't get me wrong, I love the potential of Nostr, but to be honest I still find more useful and thought-provoking content on Twitter. So for the time being I will still need to continue using both.

I'd be willing to bet this opinion is more popular than you think, just not many people voicing it

I'm sure that's true. I've had a very different experience though. Twitter became toxic very quickly, and I rarely heard any opinions that weren't either virtue signaling or trolling.

Within six weeks here I was finding people interested in engaging serious conversation and in building interesting things. I found more friends, more "followers" and more real human connection here.

There is a lot less "news" here. I'm not sure it's healthy anyways. We forget that people aren't news. I've ended up with some unhealthy thinking about other groups of people from watching too much news and talking to too few people.

There is a lot of Bitcoin talk here. But I don't think the coin is the point. I think it reflects a deeper culture - a culture in a true sense in that it refers to a whole lifestyle. I don't understand all of it, but I am beginning too.

I have a different perspective. I'm a Twitter refugee. I know a lot of people want Nostr to become more mainstream, but I'm afraid of that because I don't fit in any of those places and I fit here.

Anyways, I feel like Nostr has something special, so experiences may vary.

Nobody is forcing anybody to use it, come as you are❤️🧡💜

I learn a lot more technical stuff on Nostr as I believe people are more inclined to help when there’s a way to incentivize that.

I really just see Twitter as a fiat clown world news site where people argue about shit that doesn’t even matter to control you and your opinions away from the truth.

Of course no one is forced to use it. 😎 You're right, there is some useful technical stuff here and people are willing to help, that's one of the good points.

That’s the beautiful thing, you can go balls deep or just the tip.😎

This is a place where I think civil conversation can be had. I think people are incentivized to spread truth here. Hopefully when Nostr is ready to go mainstream our society will be a lot more informed

Agreed, Nostr doesn't tie anyone up, people who come here are open, free and come and go as they please.

Might be so, but the best of #bitcoin is here. I hope your next note stimulates the conversation you are seeking. I for one would like to see more discussion on the future of pay to play microservices built on nostr.

You need to look at big picture only. Of course network effect is not comparable at this point. However, engagement with smaller audience is already apparent. There is a reason, big picture people would rather support a constructive platform, and for me personally I am willing to give up some useful content and instead contribute and encourage others here to build and share on this platform. Time spent builds network value.

Depends on what sort of content you want to engage with.

I see the stuff you’re not fond of and I don’t engage with much of it either, but there’s lots of other interesting and engaging topics going around and people here are at the very least semi-intelligent and open to new ideas so conversations can be had.

My advice is always to pump up your follows. Go find people whose content you enjoy, either through your current follows or try searching on nostr.band, then your feed will be more to your liking and your experience more what you want it to be.

Start a hashtag for a topic you want to talk about and pump it every day for a month. Guarantee you’ll find what you’re looking for!

Early days. Enjoy the positivity while it lasts. Imagine a protocol and social network where anyone (or thing) can create an unlimited number of accounts and post anything they want, and not be censored. Now imagine people are just starting to find out about it.

I think this is going to be a rollercoaster. When porn gets in on the game, it will rocket. How many fake "real" people will post pictures swiped from other platforms, taking in the sats? How many AI accounts will just regurgitate content to grabs sats?

My main concern is not being able to search and index content, and determine what is in your feed. It will happen, but it's very complicated, and requires work on the part of the user, work which Twitter did for them automatically.

Maybe you're not following the right people...? Or maybe not asking the right questions...?
