Any 3D Printer Folks out there? Looking to buy a mid to high end printer for my machine shop and I have questions that need answers! #asknostr #3dprinting #3dprinter

I have little bit of experience. I have had the Bambu labs x1 carbon for about 6 months give or take. So far so good. Had one issue at startup, but fingers crossed none since. It prints with good quality. Currently making some legs for planter stand.

Looking at the Prusa XL. Never used a 3d printer. We have been out sourcing numerous 3D printed jobs over the past few years. This past year we have spent roughly $15k in parts being printed with a profit margin of 45%.
We need to make the cleanest parts possible with as little waste as possible.
Hoping to use food grade plastics, delrin, UHMW if possible.
Also need to make parts with the hardest materials available (which I have no clue about)
The lack of full enclosure for the XL is likely to limit many of the industrial grade material choices.
The question is how often do you need to print with more than one material, do you want to modify/add an enclosure to the XL to make it capable of printing more troublesome materials (or might PETG or PET cover most of your needs for less money), & how much does speed really matter in the multi-material scenarios. You will basically never pay for the cost difference with reduced purging unless you are printing with crazy expensive filaments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4HPnPapKY8
If you want something that just works, then the Bambu Labs X1 is probably the thing to get. But you should read & watch some reviews to get an idea of what you need. A lot of printers can quickly become projects themselves, but if your needs are specific enough it might make sense to modify an available kit or do a custom build.
