I default to 1 zap to encourage me to use it, and it’s pretty easy to bump it up if I want to.
It’s funny you post this, because I scrolled farther and realized it’s a larger ongoing conversation. I’m not sure why we would shame any zap just on its size alone.

There’s literally a 99,999 sat difference between a 1 sat and 100k sat zap. It is far more than just the action of sending a zap that matters 😂
if someone sends me 100K zap i am going to notice them, follow them if im not already doing so, and be forever grateful.
if someone sends me a 1 sat zap, it will get lost in the shuffle of things and they won't get noticed. it's near meaningless, but not completely meaningless.
at some levels i care, but i also don't care at other levels.
in the absolute grand scheme of things, i don't care. im happy that they're using nostr and zapping. that is what im truly passionate about.
day to day derek does care a little bit too. i would use those funds for either my son's used car that i want to get him or for a new fridge for my house that is needed.
each zap matters for a different reason. i guess that is my point.

i have a 2016 VW Jetta that i got brand new in October 2015. that's the car he has been driving with for the last 6 months.
my plan is to put money down and help him get another Jetta since that's the car that he likes and is used to driving. i don't want to just get a newer car myself and give him the older car. i want him to have a car that has some safety features built in that are now standard, that mine does not have. i want him to have the safer vehicle. so, since he has a job, we're going to pay the monthly payments together. But, dad will put a couple thousand down to help him bring the payments down to something more manageable for him.

Why?
1. I know they're somewhat experienced in Bitcoin
2. I know they understand the importance of building on nostr
3. I know they're (most likely) a real human being

People aren't zapping because they want to get more followers.
I don't care if Derek follows me back, I'm going to zap him either way, he's a good guy, he has good takes, he puts work and effort into improving nostr, especially the welcomings to new users.
