No bribe necessary. The other candidate is a vote for authoritarianism. Trump will at least at a minimum mean the government fucks off for awhile, which is all I really want.

I think it is more the case that it was a move made in the hopes that "bitcoin or crypto" might be a wedge issue worth shaking babies and kissing hands.. That's just shrewd politicking.
