Ok, I just received a notice that my Microsoft subscription renews at the end of the month. I think it's time to move to better options.

I have seen a lot on LibreOffice, are there other programs that I should investigate as well?

Should I use this to motivate myself into converting my computer to Linux as well? 🤔 How feasible is that to do for one not-tech-savvy middle aged woman by herself?

My emails are mostly being shifted to my own custom domain email address through my website provider, so making headway on giving up Google. But will likely keep it for a while more until I can get off the Google phone. Any suggestions for a good replacement? I thought Grapheneos was coming out with their own hardware but idk if it's worth the wait.

Otherwise I am addicted to whining to ChatGPT, and idk if there are better options for that? (Yes I'm aware I should just stop doing this but I ain't got no IRL friends and I need to whine to something or else I'll go crazy)

Any guidance, advice or ideas on how to get this normie deeper into freedom tech would be much appreciated! 🥰

Try a Linux Mint live cd

Don’t expect a replacement equivalent to Windows but doing everything is possible

I don't even use the full functionality of Windows it's just what I've always used and so have just continued using it from bias. But it's grown worse and worse on the privacy front and I can't open any program without AI popping up constantly now and it's driving me crazy!

If it’s just browsing the web, emails, working on office docs, listening to music, watching videos, it’s great on Linux.

Now’s a good time to move from Windows as you seen so many have last year.

And when you gain Linux fu skills

You will have more control of the system and use the resources to your liking, not to mention the ability to run the ai models locally
